COVID Guidelines

Q. What are the COVID guidelines for this year’s NEWEA Annual Conference?
A. The safety and welfare of attendees are a priority. All NEWEA is requiring all event participants to read and sign a risk and waiver of liability release. Masks are optional. NEWEA recommends staying-up-to-date with vaccinations. Individuals who are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms; have a pending COVID test; and/or have tested positive for COVID in the last 5 days should refrain from attending the in-person event. Q. Do I need to wear a mask?
A. No.  Masks are optional.

Q. What precautions will be taken at this year’s NEWEA Annual Conference?
A.  NEWEA’s Annual Conference will also be utilizing additional procedures to provide a safe event experience for all attendees.

  • Health and Hygiene: Event participants should practice frequent hand hygiene, including hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer, which will be available throughout the facility.
  • Enhanced Public Space Cleaning: The Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in high-traffic areas including lobby, restrooms, and elevators. Hand sanitizing stations are available.  Staff members wear PPE (e.g., face coverings, gloves, etc.) based on the activities they are performing and based on the guidelines set forth by Marriott and the state and local authorities. Disinfectant wipes are available in every guest room as well as upon request.

Q. I’m traveling from out of the country to attend NEWEA’s Annual Conference.  What are the travel advisories?
A. NEWEA attendees arriving into the U.S. from outside of the country should review government travel guidance to confirm eligibility and requirements for travel. See Travel.State.gov.

Q. What should I do if I don’t feel well at the conference?
A. Attendees who experience any COVID-19 symptoms during the Conference should:

  • Immediately exit the conference space and return to their hotel room or home to isolate and seek medical diagnosis, as well as treatment if needed.
  • Alert NEWEA staff in writing via mail@newea.org that they are experiencing symptoms.
  • Personal information and health status WILL NOT be shared with fellow event participants.

Contact Tracing: Any event participant who tests positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of attending the Conference is required to notify the NEWEA office in writing at mail@newea.org. To the greatest extent possible, this email notification should include the program elements attended by the individual, such as specific sessions. NEWEA will use this information to inform other event participants of potential exposure. Personal information and health status WILL NOT be shared with fellow event participants. NEWEA will encourage attendees to monitor for symptoms and get tested at their own discretion

We intend to deliver a high level of hygiene and safety protocol during our events to ensure our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors can connect, learn, and return to business, effectively and safely, however there is still an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. More information about COVID-19 can be found on the Center for Disease Control’s website. By voluntarily choosing to attend NEWEA’s Annual Conference & Exhibit, event participants assume all risks associated with exposure to COVID-19.

Q. How can I register for the NEWEA Annual Conference?

Q. What form of payment can I use to register for the conference?
A. NEWEA accepts the following forms of payment: Credit Card: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA.  Check: company, personal and travelers checks payable in US dollars, to: NEWEA; Cash: accepted onsite only and Purchase Orders.

Q. I can’t remember my NEWEA member number?
A. Your NEWEA member number is the same number as your WEF membership number. Email NEWEA at mail@newea.org or call at 781-939-0908.

Q. What is included with my registration and how much does it cost?

Q. What is PWO and do I Qualify for the PWO Registration Rate?
A. PWO stands for Professional Wastewater Operator. In order to qualify for the “PWO” registration rate, your NEWEA/WEF membership category must be PWO. Please call NEWEA at 781-939-0908 to verify your membership status.

Q. Are there any discounts available on conference registration?
A. Yes, register before Friday, January 6, 2023 and receive the best rate.

Q. Will I receive my badge prior to the NEWEA Annual Conference?
A. Pre-registered attendees may pick up badges and tickets at the 4th floor conference registration desk at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel, Boston, MA. Registrations accepted onsite.

Q. Will I receive a confirmation for my registration?
A. Yes, confirmation of registration will be emailed to all attendees prior to the conference.

Q. Can I receive Training Contact Hours (TCHs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for attending the NEWEA Conference?
A. Yes, NEWEA offers Training Contact Hours (TCHs) for operator recertification and Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for engineers at the NEWEA Annual Conference. Visit the TCH/PDH page for more information.

Q. What is the registration cancellation policy?
A. Request for cancellation/refund must be submitted IN WRITING prior to the Event.  A 25% cancellation fee will be applied for cancellation/refund requests received prior to January 6th.  No refunds will be issued for cancellations requested after January 6th.  Due to Association agreements and guarantees, fees are forfeited if you are not able to attend the Conference.  The conference will be held regardless of the weather.

Rather than canceling, consider sending a substitute. An organization may submit a request to substitute one person for another IN WRITING. Additional fees may apply if the substitute’s NEWEA Membership status is different from the original registrant’s (e.g. substituting a Non-member for a NEWEA Member). Badge sharing, or trading and badge reprints are strictly prohibited.

Miscellaneous

Q. Is Parking Available and do you validate?
A. Yes, there is a parking garage next to the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel. Other parking garages are within walking distance. NEWEA does NOT validate parking. The hotel also offers valet parking however valet parking is currently not available for the 2022 show. Please contact the hotel directly for more information.
